Life in the farm can get boring sometimes. That much is certain. Every day of the week, you go through the same routine; you wake up early, eat your breakfast, work the fields, eat some lunch, work the fields again, and eventually retire for the night. That is why, to keep us sane, many among us struggle to look for a hobby that makes life less monotonous.

Every day of the week, you go through the same routine; you wake up early, eat your breakfast, work the fields, eat some lunch, work the fields again, and eventually retire for the night. That is why, to keep us sane, many among us struggle to look for a hobby that makes life less monotonous.
Maybe you have felt boredom at a point in your life and opted to look for something to occupy your time with. What did you choose? Maybe you went for something that has to do with crafting figures and items out of raw materials? Or maybe there's something a parent or grandparent has done which you'd like to do, too: Cooking or woodcarving or embroidery, maybe. If you do, then you'll certainly have a spot at South Dakota's craft fairs.
In these craft fairs and festivals, you are given the chance to display your works so the whole of the state can see them. Sometimes, even people from out of state come in just to peruse the items South Dakota has to offer. My son, for example, frequently sets up a booth at these fairs. His hobby is sculpting and painting miniature fantasy figures, and he has a lot sculpted and painted for show. I am proud to say he has real talent, as you'll be able to tell when you look at his figures closely; the miniature has highly detailed facial features.
You can also make it in one of South Dakota's Craft Shows yourself, just like my son does. This is a good chance for you to show the world just how good you at arts and crafts; and besides, you may be able to earn a bit of extra money on the side. It just takes a bit of hunting for craft show schedules and venues.
It won't be easy, though, I can tell you that much, as your crafts probably won't sell very fast on the first few tries. But with enough attempts, you'll be able to sell your crafts with the best of them, plus earn a bit on the side.
